Higher education institutions worldwide strive to improve students’ learning experiences by introducing innovative teaching techniques and technologies. However, in most cases, teaching technologies are aimed at clinical, hands-on, or simulation-based teaching. Technologies aimed to improve classroom teaching are difficult to come by. H5P (HTML 5 Package) is a web-based platform that enables instructors to create interactive teaching and learning content. H5P-generated content can promote self-directed and self-paced learning.
Formative and immediate feedback provided by the H5P content enables students to self-reflect and self-assess their progress. Using the H5P platform, a series of supplementary interactive learning content was created for the students studying in the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Dental Hygiene (DH) programs at the University of Alberta. H5P content can be created from H5P.org and Lumi education. The images used in the resources come from various sources and are for educational and research purposes only.
